A comprehensive Corporate Conference on the CAREER ONE Digital Platform (www.careerone.gov.lk) was successfully conducted for the industries on Wednesday, 2 June 2026, bringing together key stakeholders in Sri Lanka’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. The event was held at Shangri-La, Colombo.
The programme was organized under the KOICA-funded TVET Career Platform Project (2023–2026), which is implemented by UBION, a leading Korean EdTech company serving as the Project Management Consultant; the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka; and the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
The initiative aimed to promote digital career readiness, strengthen career guidance mechanisms, and expand the effective use of the CAREER ONE Digital Platform, which serves as the Career Guidance Platform for Sri Lanka’s TVET sector. It provides career guidance services, on-the-job training (OJT) vacancies, and job vacancies for TVET students pursuing NVQ courses.

The opening remarks were delivered by Ms. Dimuthun Chandrasiri, Director (Vocational Training), Ministry of Education; Professor G. L. Dharmasiri Wickramasingha, Chairman, TVEC; Mr. Rohan Rodrigo, Director (Planning), NAITA; Ms. Lee Yuri, Country Director, KOICA Sri Lanka Office; and Mr. Scott, Project Manager, UBION Co., Ltd. The speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among government institutions, vocational training providers, and the private sector to improve employment opportunities for vocational trainees and graduates.
Mr. Scott, Project Manager of UBION Co., Ltd., presented an overview of the CareerOne Project. He explained that CareerOne is a national TVET career platform funded by KOICA and implemented by UBION Co., Ltd. from December 2022 to December 2026. The project’s objective is to improve employment opportunities for TVET graduates through a sustainable digital career guidance and job-matching platform. He highlighted the importance of active corporate participation through company registration, vacancy postings, and the provision of OJT opportunities. He also emphasized the role of NAITA inspectors in supporting employer engagement, trainee matching, and quality assurance.
Mr. Asitha Ratnayake, Director (Training), NAITA, delivered a presentation on the role of NAITA inspectors and the effective utilization of the CareerOne platform. He explained that NAITA Inspectors function as the primary coordinators and ambassadors of industry-based apprenticeship training. Their responsibilities include identifying training establishments, recruiting apprentices, conducting inspections, monitoring trainee progress, coordinating assessments, ensuring training quality, arranging in-plant training, OJT, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments. Mr. Ratnayake further highlighted that effective use of the CareerOne platform can improve the management of training opportunities, trainee placements, employer engagement, and data tracking, while strengthening industry linkages and employment outcomes.
Mr. Wajira Wijesinghe, Assistant Director, TVEC, presented on successful approaches and best practices in engaging TVET trainees within the corporate sector, as well as the advantages of hiring skilled vocational graduates. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between training institutions, industry, and regulatory bodies in identifying skill demands, facilitating OJT, conducting assessments, and supporting employment placement.
Ms. Hailey, Project Action Officer, conducted a practical demonstration of the CareerOne Digital Platform, covering company registration, job vacancy registration, and on-the-job training (OJT) registration. The session provided participants with hands-on guidance on effectively utilizing the platform for recruitment and training purposes.
A special cultural performance was held during the programme, providing participants with an opportunity to experience and appreciate Sri Lankan cultural heritage.
The discussion session was facilitated by Mr. Dian Baduge, representing the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation. The session focused on creating awareness among corporate representatives regarding the importance of actively participating in the CareerOne Digital Platform and identifying strategies to maximize its benefits.
The closing remarks were delivered by Dr. K. A. Lalithadheera, Director General of TVEC. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among government agencies, vocational institutions, employers, and development partners to ensure the long-term success of the CareerOne platform and the advancement of vocational education and employment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
